Is Your Brewery Floor Up To The Job?

Microbreweries and craft breweries are popping up everywhere.   But just like bigger scale breweries, the flooring system they choose to install needs to meet the same performance and health and safety standards as the larger-scale production areas.

How do we know what will work for you?

At Surface Systems we have the knowledge and proven experience in installing the best flooring system for breweries and microbreweries.  We offer a no-obligation initial consultation to determine your requirements.

Surface Systems recently completed the installation of a polyurethane screed flooring system in the microbrewery situated within a pub.

What did we use?

To ensure a high-performing floor was achieved the products we chose for this particular job were Sherwin Williams Fastop™ Multi TG69 and Sherwin Williams FasTop™ Multi WR.  This is a seamless flooring system that is hard-wearing, durable and non-porous, and the addition of polyurethane coving offered our client a hygienic solution, that would help to prevent microbially and bacteria growth – this is essential in the food and drink production industries.

As yeast-based liquids are used in the production of beer, an impervious floor that can withstand the organic acids of beer was a necessity.  The floor needed to tolerate vehicular and pedestrian traffic and protect against impact and abrasion.

A brewery floor will be exposed to extremes of temperature – for instance, the heat used in the fermentation process and cool cellars for storage, so thermal shock resistance properties in the flooring system are necessary.  Polyurethane screed floors can withstand temperatures of up to 140°C.  Brewery production areas will get wet.  Spillages are a likely occurrence so a slip-resistant floor, laid to falls, will help with drainage while adhering to health and safety standards.  Polyurethane screed floors are suitable for applications where hot water is present and steam cleaning is undertaken.

What are the benefits of installing a polyurethane screed floor in your brewery?

  • Anti-slip properties
  • Hygienic and seamless finish
  • Durable and long-lasting
  • Easily cleaned, even at high temperatures
  • Can be laid to falls benefitting drainage
  • Non-porous and chemical resistant
