Case Study

Case Study: Resin Flooring and Coving Installation for Print Label Manufacturer

Empty industrial room with white posts, a glossy epoxy floor, and exposed ceiling wires.

Client:  Expanding Print Label Manufacturer

Area: 500m² Production Area

Environment: Area housing state-of-the-art digital and flexographic printing presses

Issues

Due to the ongoing expansion of the business, our client was preparing to install a new production unit.  Before positioning the machinery, they required a durable, hygienic and easy-to-clean resin flooring system, with 100mm high coving, to meet hygiene and washdown standards.  The existing substrate needed full preparation, resin coating and reinstatement of floor joints.

Solution

We specified a robust, moisture-tolerant resin flooring system that would deliver our client a high-performing, durable solution for their busy manufacturing operation.

Installation Process

  • Installation of 100mm high coving to stainless steel birds-beak trim, formed using high-strength epoxy mortar.
  • Diamond-grind the entire 500m² floor area to remove surface contamination and create a mechanical key.
  • Application of moisture-tolerant primer, ensuring strong adhesion even in areas with residual moisture.
  • Application of two coats of high-build resin with a slip-resistant finish, suitable for production environments.
  • Cut and resinstate all floor joints using a flexible jointing compound to accommodate movement and protect arrises.

Outcome

Our client now has a seamless, hygienic and hard-wearing resin floor ready for the installation of their new machinery.  The coving provides ease of cleaning and compliance with hygiene standards, while the flexible joints ensure long-term durability under regular traffic and operational loads.
