Case Study: Resin Flooring Upgrade for 2000m² Warehouse

Wide view of an empty warehouse aisle with steel racks, yellow safety posts, and a glossy concrete floor.

Client:  National Fencing Products Manufacturer

Area: 2000m² Warehouse Storage Unit

Environment: Heavy forklift traffic, racking aisles, polished concrete substrate

Issues

The warehouse operated on an existing polished concrete floor that was failing under continuous heavy forklift use.  The arrises of the floor joints were breaking down, causing uneven surfaces, instability during forklift movements and increased wear on materials.  The client required a durable resin coating and a full reapplication of floor joints to restore safety and overall performance.

Survey

Our site visit confirmed that a high-build system was required to deliver long-term durability and improved slip-resistance, taking into consideration installation between existing racking with minimal disruption to operations.

Solution

To restore performance and safety, a two-coat high-build epoxy system with slip-resistant finish, was specified and installed.

Installation Process

  • Prepare and diamond-grind the existing coating, including the tight access areas between racking
  • Rebuild damaged joints using high-strength epoxy mortar, to restore structural integrity
  • Application of two coats of high-build epoxy to provide a seamless, hard-wearing, slip-resistant finish
  • Recut and refill all joints with a flexible jointing compound, to accommodate forklift movement and prevent future damage to arrises

Outcome

The warehouse now benefits from a robust, clean and slip-resistant resin floor, designed to withstand heavy traffic and daily operational demands.  The reinstated flexible joints ensure safer forklift movement and reduce the risk of future join breakages.
