The Reality of Epoxy Floors

Epoxy is one of the best floor resurfacing options you might be considering.   This is why we think so!

Our epoxy resin flooring systems are tailored by us to meet the unique needs of your business.  Long-lasting, durable and available in a range of colour and gloss options it is a more aesthetically pleasing option than you might think.

Epoxy will bond with the concrete substrate to create a hardwearing and highly resistant surface.  This is how your floor will withstand up to 10 years of wear and tear.

Whilst epoxy flooring is at the higher end of a budget, it will prove to be a cost-effective investment for your business.  By choosing this low-maintenance flooring, repairs and upkeep should be minimal compared to alternatives, so your investment will pay off.

You may well be able to repair rather than install a complete new epoxy resin floor.  Our team will inspect the damage and often be able to fix up any damaged areas by breaking out and removing damaged areas, repair with suitable materials and apply a resin coat to the surface.

They may look shiny and slippery but epoxy floors, compared to most other smooth surfaces, are far from a slip hazard.  Many products have slip-resistant properties and additions such as grit or additional surface textures and coatings can enhance this further.

Preparation is so important in the success of your new epoxy resin flooring.  To get the very best from your new floor, preparing the surface well is essential.

Our installation team have the equipment and the experience in knowing which method will get the best results, be it shot blasting, diamond grinding or dust-extracted scabling.  Loose pieces of concrete, existing paint and as much dirt, debris and loose material are removed leaving a smooth, clean and dust-free surface to begin work with.

Epoxy floors are not toxic.  The strong odour that is emitted is due to VOCs.  This is not harmful however it is sensible to wear protective PPE during installation and our team will always adhere to strict safety procedures.

The disruption to your business’s operations is minimal.  Our installation team will work around the clock to fit into your operating schedule.  Fixed equipment does not always have to be removed, however, it is better if it is.  Curing times can vary.  Remember to include this when working out how long your flooring project might take.

Many of the epoxy flooring systems that we install do have a fast cure time which means minimal downtime for your business.   Usually, within 12 to 24 hours the floor will be cured enough to walk on, however, a fully cured floor can be anything from 72 hours to a few days.  It all depends on the temperature and humidity of the environment and the type of epoxy.

There is a suitable epoxy resin solution out there that will meet your flooring needs.

Remember additional properties in the epoxy resin materials make this the perfect solution for a wide range of industries including food and drink manufacturing and processing, hospitals, mortuaries, engineering environments, sports and leisure and prisons.
