Case Study

Vineyard and Wine Producer/Manufacturer

Warehouse Marked Resin Flooring - Commercial & Industrial Specialists - Surface Systems South West

Having worked for a local winemaker in Devon since the early noughties, we received a call from the Head Winemaker who had recently left the business and decided to build a vineyard & winery and start producing his own wine label. The new business was to be situated in Essex and it came as no surprise when we were asked to quote for the floors in the new factory.

The work was to be managed by a local builder and the tender process was extensive. Considering we were located over two hundred miles from site and would incur additional costs with travel and accommodation we still secured the business.

From the outset, we decided to manage the project carefully and placed a Director of the company on-site for the majority of the works which lasted over four weeks. This proved to be a wise decision as it enabled a tight rein to be placed on the project with a strong emphasis on cost control. When we arrived on site it was apparent that one of the new flooring areas required additional work as the reinforcing bars were evident on certain surface areas. This was not a problem for Surface Systems Ltd and we managed to resin bond and overlay with a polymer-modified screed with no impact on the project timetable. Due to the size of the project and timescales involved, we decided to involve sub-contract labour to assist with the laying of the polyurethane screed. The sub-contractors worked under the close supervision of our own specialist team and proved a valuable resource on a tightly managed project. The use of lasers to set out the bays and line markings were used to ensure accurate dimensions and complete client satisfaction.
